As the temperatures drop, the nights close in and the trees turn golden, current students are invited to a 3-day creative writing retreat led by Creative Writing Course Leader Dr Chris Westoby. Whether they’re inspired by harvest horseplay, folklore fables or campfire capers, this is their chance to let their imagination take the reins.

Event details

This event will be held in a hybrid format, so attendees can sign up virtually and take part in all the same workshops and activities as their peers. It is also completely optional for students, so whether they choose to attend or not, their assignments and grades will not be affected.

Settling down in the picturesque Moulton Grange, Northampton, attendees will be immersed in the beauty of the British countryside and writing with like-minded creatives. We don’t have a fixed agenda yet, but we'll soon release an exciting schedule of workshops and activities. In the company of fellow writers from across the globe, this critical environment is the ultimate space for learners to share ideas, feedback, and inspiration. The connections made during these meetups can also blossom into anything – from lasting friendships to creative collaborations.

Thinking about studying with us at the University of Hull Online? We’ll be holding more events like this in the future, so we hope you’ll join us as a distance learner!

"Our retreat’s aim is to be a place to have fun in the company of fellow writers. Alongside plenty of time to mingle, we are planning extended, dedicated writing and workshopping sessions, chances to showcase your writing and take part in sessions led by our Creative Writing staff."

Dr Chris Westoby, MA Creative Writing Course Leader
