# Karen Howells

Online Tutor, Global MBA

Karen has over 40 years of experience in innovation and enterprise, including 30 years in higher education across Turkey, Cyprus, and the United Kingdom, and 15 years as an online tutor. A former software engineer, she designed and managed products such as **Mini Office Professional**, an early integrated office suite that predated Microsoft Office. She holds dual chartered status as both a **Chartered Marketer** and a **Chartered IT Professional**, and is widely published in areas spanning sentiment analysis, tactical intelligence collection, and entrepreneurship.

## Career highlights

- **40+ years of professional experience** in innovation and enterprise, including **30 years in higher education** across Turkey, Cyprus, and the United Kingdom.
- **15 years as an online tutor** supporting distance and blended learning programmes.
- Began her career as a **software engineer**, designing and managing products such as **Mini Office Professional**, an early integrated office suite predating Microsoft Office.
- **Chartered Marketer (CIM)** and **Chartered IT Professional (BCS)**, with published research in AI-driven sentiment analysis, tactical intelligence collection, and entrepreneurship.
- Led **Cyprus’s largest entrepreneurship survey** and serves on editorial boards of multiple business journals, as well as on the committee for the *European Conference on Innovation and Entrepreneurship*.
- Committed to STEM education, volunteering as a **school governor** and with **STEM Cymru**.
