What key skills will future logistics leaders need?
Hear from Programme Director Dr Richard Farr as he discusses the most valuable industry skills.

The future is digital, obviously but if your role at present sees you working in a supply chain as you grow in seniority and experience within your organisation or as you move around in your career, you'll be taking a more strategic view. That's important. We need to understand risk, which is by no means an easy thing to encompass. If you're going to be effective in management you're going to need to be able to perform analysis in very near real time.
Problems develop quickly and you need to have solutions in place. The world is very much competing on speed nowadays. But you'll also need soft skills, personal relationships that you build and techniques in negotiation for example.
Companies attending to make less but buy more. Things come from further away and you need to be able to expedite, you need to be able to anticipate problems and pivot quite quickly so you'll embrace uncertainty I think. So it's a complex skill set but for those who can do these things there are certainly plenty of opportunities.
